SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 243

COMMENDATIONS. Commends C.C. "Cat" Cox for his many years of pubic service and
designates January 9 as C.C. "Cat" Cox Day every year in North Webster Parish.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend C.C. "Cat" Cox for his many years of public service and to designate January
3 ninth of each year in North Webster Parish as C.C. "Cat" Cox Day.
4 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Senate of the Legislature
5 of Louisiana have learned of the many years of public service that C.C. "Cat" Cox has served
6 in the state of Louisiana; and
7 WHEREAS, the town of Cotton Valley is recognizing community staple C.C. "Cat"
8 Cox with his own day each year, and the town has future plans to work with the Louisiana
9 Department of Transportation to rename a part of Highway 371 in Cotton Valley in his
10 honor; and
11 WHEREAS, C.C. "Cat" Cox, has served, at ninety years of age, as an alderman for
12 Cotton Valley for twelve years, Mayor Pro-Tem for two years, and has been on the Housing
13 Authority Board since 2018; and
14 WHEREAS, C.C. "Cat" Cox went to work for the town of Cotton Valley on
15 December 15, 1958; and
16 WHEREAS, first serving as a Cotton Valley police officer then as the chief of police
17 for twenty-six years, he served more than twenty years as a Webster Parish Police Juror and
18 forty-six years as a member of the Community Action Board, and as a Webster Parish school

1 bus driver; and
2 WHEREAS, he is an outstanding and highly admired citizen of Louisiana who
3 continues to work tirelessly on a multitude of civic, political, and religious causes in the
4 community of Cotton Valley, has served in an advisory capacity on other community boards,
5 and is a successful fundraising advocate; and
6 WHEREAS, he has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for sixty-five years, First
7 Baptist Church for sixty-two years, and married to his loving and devoted wife, Lorice, for
8 seventy years; and
9 WHEREAS, he credits his years of public service for having a good life and still
10 keeping him going at ninety years old.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
12 does hereby commend C.C. "Cat" Cox for his many years of public service and designate
13 January ninth of each year in North Webster Parish as C.C. "Cat" Cox Day.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
15 C.C. "Cat" Cox.
