Braxton. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the 3 death of Rodney L. Braxton. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana 5 learned of the death of Rodney L. Braxton on June 3, 2019, at the age of ninety; and 6 WHEREAS, Rodney Louis Braxton was born on July 1, 1928, in New Orleans, 7 Louisiana, and was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and 8 WHEREAS, he served in the Army Air Corps and was a graduate of Xavier 9 University of Louisiana; and 10 WHEREAS, Mr. Braxton taught sixth grade for thirty years in the Orleans Parish 11 School System; and 12 WHEREAS, he was a devout Catholic and was married to his wife, Veronica, for 13 fifty-six years; and 14 WHEREAS, an avid reader, Mr. Braxton devoured the written word, particularly 15 items written about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and anything pertaining 16 to President Lyndon Baines Johnson; and 17 WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving wife, Veronica; three children, Rodney 18 Braxton, Mark Braxton, and Leslie Braxton; and two grandchildren, Jardin and Christopher; Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 252 SLS 19RS-3344 ORIGINAL 1 and 2 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities, 3 and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like 4 Rodney L. Braxton; and 5 WHEREAS, with the death of Rodney L. Braxton, Louisiana has lost one of its finest 6 sons, a quintessential southern gentleman who loved his community, and whose 7 accomplishments have left an indelible mark upon his community, state, and nation. 8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 9 does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Rodney L. Braxton 10 and extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he will forever 11 bring to the New Orleans and Baton Rouge communities, the state of Louisiana, and the 12 United States of America. 13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 14 family of Rodney L.
