Morain upon her induction into the St. Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend and congratulate Mary Polotzola Morain upon her induction into the St. 3 Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame. 4 WHEREAS, Mary P. Morain is the ninth of twelve children born to Dominick 5 Polotzola and Betty Dukes; and 6 WHEREAS, born and raised in Melville, Louisiana, graduating from Melville High 7 School in 1975, she remains a lifetime resident of the beautiful town; and 8 WHEREAS, Mary's marriage of forty-three years to her husband, Bennett Morain, 9 in 1976, produced one son, Brandon, and four beautiful grandchildren, Emily, Brandalynn, 10 Brennon, and Emerson who bring much pride and joy to their family; and 11 WHEREAS, as a child growing up in Melville, Mary exhibited leadership qualities 12 that created the gateway to her success and has always been compassionate and caring, with 13 the sole purpose in her life, to always help others; and 14 WHEREAS, Mrs. Morain served as an apprentice to Anthony Corte, from the young 15 age of nineteen, before taking ownership of Corte's AG Food Center in Melville in 1985 for 16 twenty-five years alongside her husband; and 17 WHEREAS, many of Melville's townspeople will elaborate and share a story or two 18 of how Mrs. Morain has a heart of gold and how she gives back to her community, with the Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 51 SLS 19RS-584 ORIGINAL 1 most common statement being that "If Mary is around no one goes hungry!!!"; and 2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Morain was founder and president of the nonprofit organization, 3 "Melville Young At Heart Club", for eighteen years which works with senior citizens and 4 elderly in her community, thus, allowing her to put loving smiles on the faces of the elderly; 5 and 6 WHEREAS, she often organized trips, social gatherings, and meetings so that the 7 elderly would feel loved and not so alone while bringing joy and warmth to their hearts on 8 a regular basis; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Morain is the owner of "Immaculate Heart of Mary", a personal 10 care service, started in 2005 in Melville, which has now flourished to two other regions of 11 the state with offices in Morganza and Marksville because she knows how to address the 12 areas that are critical to the elderly and people with disabilities, helping them to be as self- 13 sufficient as possible; and 14 WHEREAS, she is hands-on seven days a week managing six hundred employees 15 who care for five hundred clients as "Immaculate Heart of Mary" is the highlight of Mrs. 16 Morain's life, because she loves taking care of the elderly and people with disabilities which 17 she does with such grace and gratitude; and 18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Morain is very active with volunteering, organizing, and 19 sponsoring events such as fund-raisers, raffles, dinner sales, and karaoke for St. John's 20 Catholic Church and the Melville Volunteer Fire Department; and 21 WHEREAS, in 1995, Mrs. Morain received the Monsignor Segura Award which is 22 the highest honor awarded to a nonclergy catholic from the Diocese of Lafayette; and 23 WHEREAS, Mrs. Morain is known as giving one hundred percent of her time, talent, 24 and treasures to ensure that everyone around her is taken care of, as she perseveres and 25 challenges the best of the best and fights relentlessly for righteousness; and 26 WHEREAS, the St. Landry Democratic Parish Executive Committee annually names 27 persons of high ethical and moral character who have promoted the principles of 28 constitutional equality, personal liberty, economic opportunity, and government and fiscal 29 responsibility whose impact has positively influenced the entire parish and the state; and 30 WHEREAS, the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, who is then considered to Page 2 of 3 SR NO. 51 SLS 19RS-584 ORIGINAL 1 be a member of the St. Landry Democratic Party Hall of Fame, is also a person who 2 recognizes and respects the diversity of all Americans and promotes the common unity of 3 all, leading the political party and displaying strong leadership throughout their career; and 4 WHEREAS, Mary P. Morain has demonstrated a devotion to all of these principles 5 of the St. Landry Democratic Party with a lifetime of efforts championing these principles 6 that are so essential to the ideas of American democracy; and 7 WHEREAS, during the Lifetime Achievement Banquet, held on March 26, 2019, 8 Mary Polotzola Morain was inducted into the Hall of Fame. 9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 10 does hereby commend and congratulate Mary Polotzola Morain upon her induction into the 11 St. Landry Parish Democratic Party Hall of Fame. 12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 13 Mary Polotzola Morain.
