SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 61
BY SENATOR CHABERT
SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Commends the members of the Louisiana Athletic
Trainers Association for their dedicated hard work on behalf of the athletes of Louisiana and
designates April 23, 2019, as Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Day at the state
capitol.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the members of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association for their dedicated
3 hard work on behalf of the athletes of Louisiana and to designate April 23, 2019, as
4 Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Day at the state capitol.
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association (LATA) members are skilled
6 healthcare professionals trained in the prevention, emergency management, evaluation, and
7 therapeutic intervention of sports-related injuries and conditions; and
8 WHEREAS, the mission statement of the National Athletic Trainers Association is
9 to represent, engage, and foster the continued growth and development of the athletic
10 training profession and athletic trainers as unique healthcare providers; and
11 WHEREAS, athletic training is an allied healthcare profession recognized by the
12 American Medical Association and certification in the profession requires strict educational
13 standards based on specific knowledge and skills; and
14 WHEREAS, certified athletic trainers have a long history of providing quality
15 healthcare for athletes and individuals engaged in physical activity; and
16 WHEREAS, the hard work of the men and women of LATA has allowed citizens of
17 Louisiana to participate in meaningful and rewarding athletic competitions throughout the
18 state and nation.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
2 does hereby commend the members of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association for their
3 outstanding achievements, does hereby recognize their unwavering commitment to
4 excellence in service to the citizens of the state, does hereby extend enduring appreciation
5 for the pride and honor they bring to Louisiana, and does hereby designate April 23, 2019,
6 as Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Day at the state capitol.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
8 LATA President Cary Berthelot and Cindy Bishop.
