2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 62 BY SENATOR WHITE A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Bernhard LLC for one hundred years of operation. WHEREAS, Bernhard LLC (Bernhard) is one of the largest privately-owned engineering, mechanical, and electrical contractors in America spanning four generations with over one hundred years of experience servicing commercial, institutional, and specialty markets; and WHEREAS, Bernhard has more than 1,600 employees, twenty-seven locations, and more than 300,000 square feet of fabrication capacity; and WHEREAS, Bernhard combines a best-in-class engineering firm with established mechanical and electrical contracting firms to create a full-service thermal energy solutions provider while larger investments in energy efficiency for commercial and industrial building and campuses continue to drive strong growth of the business; and WHEREAS, William Bernhard, born to German immigrant parents in New Orleans, started Bernhard Plumbing and Sheet Metal Works in Baton Rouge in 1919 and began a legacy that would prosper into the new century; and WHEREAS, the second generation included William's sons and brother, with Jimmy Bernhard eventually taking the lead role, as in the 1960s, the company expanded to Lafayette to build the Lafayette General, the name being changed to Bernhard Mechanical to include air conditioning services as Bernhard helped build the Governor's Mansion, the State Capitol, and other fixtures across the state; and WHEREAS, four generations and one hundred years later, Bernhard has transitioned from a small HVAC and plumbing contractor to a partner in a company leading energy-as-a-service solutions provider offering turnkey development, financing, design, construction, operations and maintenance resources, and expertise for healthcare, governmental, educational, institutional, commercial, and industrial customers throughout North America; and WHEREAS, driven by people and generations of passion to deliver innovative Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 62 ENROLLED engineering, construction, and energy solutions that empower its clients and promote a sustainable future, 2014 marked a year of acquisition and a glimpse of what the future holds for generations to come as in that year, Bernhard LLC was founded as the parent company to a collection of Gulf South-based companies including Bernhard Energy, Bernhard E.P. Breaux, and Bernhard TME; and WHEREAS, in that same year, Bernhard LLC brought TME, LLC into the holding company and TME provides innovative engineering design and energy conservation services through its locations nationwide; E.P. Breaux Electrical, a respected electrical contractor specializing in commercial, utility, industrial, and communications projects across the Gulf Region also became a Bernhard LLC company; and WHEREAS, in 2016, Bernhard MCC was formed through combining Bernhard Mechanical and The MCC Group, and today, Bernhard collectively includes Bernhard Energy, Bernhard MCC, Bernhard E.P. Breaux, and Bernhard TME; and WHEREAS, its major projects in Louisiana include LSU Medical Center & VA and Astor Crown Plaza in New Orleans, L'Auberge Du Lac in Lake Charles, Harrah's New Orleans, and Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette with Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans in 2019; and WHEREAS, the major projects of Bernhard outside of Louisiana are NASCAR Plaza and Hearst Office Tower in Charlotte, North Carolina, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Rockefeller Cancer Institute in Little Rock, Arkansas, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, Arizona State University Dining Facility in Glendale, Arizona, and Duke University School of Nursing in Durham, North Carolina. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Bernhard LLC for one hundred years of operation and its contributions to the state of Louisiana and does hereby express best wishes for continued prosperity in the years to come.
