SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 67

SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Recognizes Thursday, April 25, 2019, as Forum 35 Day
at the state capitol and commends the members of Forum 35.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To recognize Thursday, April 25, 2019, as Forum 35 Day at the state capitol and to
3 commend the members of Forum 35.
4 WHEREAS, founded in 1993, Forum 35, a young professionals organization
5 dedicated to improving and shaping Baton Rouge, inspires its members to become more
6 involved with philanthropic organizations and activities; and
7 WHEREAS, over the past twenty-six years, Forum 35 has expanded its membership
8 to over three hundred members; and
9 WHEREAS, Forum 35 hosts and participates in many valuable initiatives and events,
10 including Forum Friday, John W. Barton Sr. Community Leadership Development Program,
11 Uncorked, Public Education Project, Leadership Hour, service committee projects, cultural
12 diversity forums, and various members' socials; and
13 WHEREAS, Forum 35 is committed to community service and actively contributes
14 to the educational, civic, and social life of the citizens of Baton Rouge and Louisiana; and
15 WHEREAS, Forum 35 members regularly speak out on major issues and volunteer
16 thousands of hours in the community; and
17 WHEREAS, Forum 35 works with corporate partners in the Baton Rouge community
18 to bolster the organization's ability to serve as a recruitment, retention, and development tool

1 of young professionals for corporations in the capital region; and
2 WHEREAS, Forum 35 does not endorse candidates for public office, but does
3 encourage its members to vote, regardless of individual political beliefs; and
4 WHEREAS, Forum 35 Day at the state capitol allows members to speak with their
5 legislators to address issues that are pertinent to the Baton Rouge community and to the state
6 of Louisiana; and
7 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the members of Forum 35 for their
8 dedication to the core pillars of arts and culture, leadership, and cultural diversity.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
10 does hereby recognize Thursday, April 25, 2019, as Forum 35 Day at the state capitol and
11 commend and express enduring appreciation to the members of Forum 35 for the
12 tremendous honor and pride that they bring to the Baton Rouge community and the state of
13 Louisiana.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
15 Forum 35 Board of Directors.
