SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 83

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the St. Thomas More High School Cougars boys
basketball team and Coach Danny Broussard for winning the Division II State
Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the St. Thomas More High School Cougars boys basketball team and Head
3 Coach Danny Broussard on winning the Division II State Championship.
4 WHEREAS, the St. Thomas More High School Cougars boys basketball team won
5 the Division II State Championship in a thrilling 77-72 double-overtime victory over De La
6 Salle High School at Burton Coliseum and completed another sensational season, defending
7 its 2018 crown title to earn the Division II 2019 state championship title for the second year
8 in a row; and
9 WHEREAS, the state championship win was the culmination of another
10 unforgettable season; and
11 WHEREAS, the coaching staff, Head Coach Danny Broussard and his assistant
12 coaches Wesley Cortese, Nick Cortese, and Barrett Chiasson and all the members of the
13 2018-2019 team performed at a superb level of excellence throughout the entire season and
14 into the playoffs, and each of these great athletes and staff deserves recognition for their vital
15 contributions to the winning effort of the state championship title; and
16 WHEREAS, the distinguished team of champions includes Logan Rader, Grant
17 Arceneaux, Carter Domingue, Deion Senegal, Jaden Shelvin, named Most Outstanding
18 Player, Reece Melancon, Braylen Logan, Jaxon Moncla, Grant Dupuis, Christian Trahan,

1 Noah Hebert, Tobin Thevenot, Noah Bourque, Michael Landry, Spencer Hebert, Bryce
2 Boullion, Jordan Diaz Carter Arceneaux, Caleb Holstein, Lucas Mouton, Evan Comeaux,
3 Chris Morton, Jack Bech, Griffin Thibeaux, and Ellis Mayeaux; and
4 WHEREAS, the alumni and fans of St. Thomas More High School recognize the
5 immense pride and distinguished honor the soccer team brings to its school, community, and
6 state.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
8 commend and congratulate the St. Thomas More High School Cougars boys basketball team
9 upon winning the 2019 Division II State Championship and does hereby extend best wishes
10 to the players, coaches, and all who are involved in this fine athletics program as they
11 celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued growth and success in the
12 future.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted
14 to the St. Thomas More High School Cougars boys basketball team and Head Coach
15 Danny Broussard.
