2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 84 BY SENATOR CORTEZ A RESOLUTION To commend the St. Thomas More High School Lady Cougars girls soccer team and Head Coach Daniel Underwood on their second consecutive Division II State Championship. WHEREAS, the St. Thomas More High School girls soccer team completed another sensational season, defending its 2018 crown title to earn the Division II 2019 state championship title for the second year in a row after defeating Lakeshore High School by a score of two to zero, to win another thrilling state championship game on Thursday February 21, 2019, at Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex in Lafayette, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the state championship win was the culmination of another unforgettable season; and WHEREAS, the coaching staff, Head Coach Daniel Underwood and his assistant coaches Katie Breaux, Tommy Wilder, Jonathan Walsh, and Nicole Dincau, and all the members of the 2018-2019 team performed at a superb level of excellence throughout the entire season and into the playoffs, and each of these great athletes and staff deserves recognition for their vital contributions to the winning effort of the state championship title; and WHEREAS, the distinguished team of champions includes varsity team members, Avery Wright, Paityn Gautreaux, Ainsley Morgan, Erin Bednarz, Kate David, Avery Quoyeser, Maddie Moreau, named Most Valuable Player, Julia Spielmann, Peyton St. Pierre, Claire Werther, Emily Champion, Natalie Roy, Riley Leblanc, Amelie Echeverria, Lexi Cheramie, Harper Skrasek, Raegan Latiolas, Ann-Marie Alack, Kate O'Neal, and Meredith Arnold; and junior varsity team members Kate Horton, Kamryn Miller, Hailey Gannon, Maddie Lacombe, Cecile Templet, Ashley Hyde, Andrea De La Torre, Marissa Alexander, Adele Mooney, Sarah George, Mary Werther, Graycie Gautreaux, Mia Andrews, Nicole Bellar, Bailey Bronner, Kyleigh Gaudet, Alexis Zerangue, Ava Laborde, and Ashli Williams; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 84 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the alumni and fans of St. Thomas More High School recognize the immense pride and distinguished honor the soccer team brings to its school, community, and state. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the St. Thomas More High School Lady Cougars girls soccer team upon winning the 2019 Division II State Championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and all who are involved in this fine athletics program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued growth and success in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the St. Thomas More High School Lady Cougars girls soccer team and Head Coach Daniel Underwood.
