HLS 201ES-29 ORIGINAL 2020 First Extraordinary Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 11 BY REPRESENTATIVE SCHEXNAYDER COMMENDATIONS: Commends BHP for its donation of more than 20,000 masks to the Louisiana Legislature 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend BHP for its contributions to the state of Louisiana during its response to the 3 COVID-19 pandemic. 4 WHEREAS, BHP is a resources company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia; 5and 6 WHEREAS, in the United States, BHP is among the largest producers of oil and gas 7from deepwater in the Gulf of Mexico, and its global petroleum headquarters is located in 8Houston; and 9 WHEREAS, BHP operates platforms off the Louisiana coast and maintains shorebase 10facilities in Houma and Port Fourchon; and 11 WHEREAS, BHP is committed to bringing people and resources together in order 12to build a better world; and 13 WHEREAS, BHP has honored this commitment and further demonstrated its concern 14for the citizens of Louisiana during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating more than $1.1 15million in grant funding to programs throughout the state, reducing payment terms for small 16businesses that support its operations, and providing more than fifteen thousand 3M N-95 17respirators to Terrebonne General Medical Center; and 18 WHEREAS, BHP also contributed to the safety of citizens, capitol and legislative 19staff, and legislators during the 2020 legislative sessions through its donation of more than 20twenty thousand surgical masks.
