SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes June 9, 2020, as Our Lady of the Lake
Children's Hospital Day at the state capitol
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize June 9, 2020, as Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital Day at the state
3 capitol.
4 WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake, a ministry of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our
5Lady, has led the region's healthcare efforts in pediatric services for many years; and
6 WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital treats more than 100,000
7patients annually from all Louisiana parishes, as well as children from Mississippi, Texas,
8and Arkansas; and
9 WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital recently completed
10construction of a new hospital which has more than 360,000 square feet, the region's only
11pediatric Level II trauma program, a pediatric emergency room which is expected to serve
12more than 35,000 patients annually, and one of only two full-time pediatric intensive care
13units in Louisiana; and
14 WHEREAS, the new hospital also includes a surgical suite of five operating rooms,
15a thirty-bed intensive care unit, forty medical/surgical in-patient beds, a hematology/
16oncology floor with thirty in-patient specialized beds, and one of only eight outpatient
17St. Jude Affiliate clinics in the nation; and
18 WHEREAS, the new children's hospital is an anchor for advanced pediatric care and
19specialized programming for patients and families from across Louisiana and the
20surrounding region; and

1 WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's hospital is home to more than twenty-
2five pediatric specialties and to the nationally recognized Our Lady of the Lake Pediatric
3Residency Program, which provides training for future physicians; and
4 WHEREAS, the hospital is home to a pediatric transport team that has transported
5more than twelve hundred patients over the last six years; and
6 WHEREAS, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital anchors a collaborative and
7coordinated statewide pediatric health network that provides patients with more access to
8physicians and providers specifically trained to care for children.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Tuesday, June 9, 2020, as Our Lady of the
11Lake Children's Hospital Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend the entire Our
12Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital community for tireless efforts to serve the healthcare
13needs of the children of Louisiana.
