COMMENDATIONS: Commends Erick Lawrence on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Erick Lawrence on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and celebrate the accomplishments of
4Erick Lawrence of Boy Scouts of America Troop 29 on the memorable and historic occasion
5of his attainment of the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; and
6 WHEREAS, Erick Lawrence was honored at a reception in August 2019; and
7 WHEREAS, the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, founded on February 8,
81910, and chartered by the United States Congress in 1916, is to prepare young people to
9make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the
10Scout Oath and Law; and
11 WHEREAS, to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, a Boy
12Scout must fulfill all requirements of leadership, service, and outdoor skills and must earn
13twenty-one merit badges which signify the mastery of Scouting skills, including Citizenship
14in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the World; and
15 WHEREAS, for his Eagle project, Erick created a food pantry he calls the "Blessing
16Box"; through the box, food was made available to anyone who needs it; and
17 WHEREAS, Erick faithfully embodies the twelve points of the Scout Law; he is
18trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean,
19and reverent; and
20 WHEREAS, presented with his Eagle Scout badge, Erick Lawrence joins the ranks
21of such esteemed and respected Eagle Scouts as the Honorable Gerald R. Ford, the

1thirty-eighth president of the United States; Captain James Lovell, the commander of the
2Apollo 13 space flight; Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon; acclaimed
3filmmaker Steven Spielberg; and Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft; and
4 WHEREAS, the legacy for the Boy Scouts is indeed a rich one, for it not only
5includes a history of service and proud citizenship which spans more than a century, but it
6also includes the history of service and singular accomplishments of Erick Lawrence, a
7young man to be recognized and commended by future Eagle Scouts and his community for
8the deep human values and genuine spirit of good fellowship that he inspires.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and honor Erick Lawrence on the historic
11occasion of his attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout; does hereby express utmost gratitude
12and respect for the exemplary strides he has taken as a Scout and a citizen; does hereby
13congratulate Erick and the members and leaders of Troop 29 as they commemorate the
14significant event of Mr. Lawrence's pledge of eternal loyalty to the code of the Eagle Scout;
15and does hereby extend best wishes to Erick Lawrence for full measures of happiness and
16success in all of his future endeavors.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Erick
18Lawrence.
