ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Requests a study of data points used for performance
analysis by the Department of Economic Development
1 A RESOLUTION
2To urge and request the Department of Economic Development to identify and study all
3 potential data points that are collected or are capable of being collected by the
4 Department of Economic Development and to provide a written report of its findings
5 to the House Committee on Ways and Means no later than February 1, 2021.
6 WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development is responsible for promoting
7the growth of industry and other commercial enterprises in Louisiana that contribute to the
8overall improvement of the economy of the state; and
9 WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development collects data points that are
10used for the purpose of providing analysis that helps the Department of Economic
11Development fulfill its responsibilities; and
12 WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development publishes an annual report
13which provides valuable insight into the performance of incentive programs, including
14historical comparisons and analysis that require many data points in order to be useful; and
15 WHEREAS, the data collected by the Department of Economic Development for the
16purpose of analytics is pertinent to the legislature for policy-making decisions that affect the
17entire state; and
18 WHEREAS, accessing all relevant data points that are collected, as well as all
19traceable data points that are capable of being collected, will assist the legislature in policy-
20making decisions that affect the entire state.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana requests the Department of Economic Development to identify and
3study all data points that are collected and that are capable of being collected within the
4Department of Economic Development and to provide a written report of its findings to the
5House Committee on Ways and Means no later than February 1, 2021.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
7secretary of the Department of Economic Development.
