HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 26
BY REPRESENTATIVE JEFFERSON
A RESOLUTION
To commend Dr. James H. Crawley on his ninetieth birthday.
WHEREAS, Dr. Crawley is an honorably discharged former member of the United
States armed services, having fought during the Korean Conflict; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Crawley is retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation
and Development after many years of services to the state and is a former principal of
Crawford Elementary School in Arcadia and former police juror for Lincoln Parish; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Crawley received a bachelor's degree from Southern University
A&M, a master of education degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a
doctorate from the University of Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Crawley will celebrate sixty years of marriage to his wife, Sylvia
Crawley, on August 6, 2020; she is also an educator; Dr. and Mrs. Crawley have three
children together, Brian, Marvin, and Jamie, and two grandchildren, Myles and Hunter; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Crawley is a long-time deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in
Grambling; and
WHEREAS, on his ninetieth birthday, Dr. Crawley is most deserving of recognition
for his impressive academic achievements and service to his community; he is a living
legend who has made this state a better place.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Dr. James H. Crawley on the occasion of his
ninetieth birthday; does hereby recognize his many academic and professional achievements;
does hereby thank him for his service to our country and state; and does hereby extend
sincere hopes and wishes that Dr. Crawley and his family enjoy continuous good health and
success for many years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dr.
James H. Crawley.
