2020 First Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41 BY SENATOR REESE A RESOLUTION To commend Beauregard Parish Sheriff Ricky Moses for his long and distinguished career in law enforcement. WHEREAS, Ricky Moses is a lifelong resident of Beauregard Parish and graduate of DeRidder High School; and WHEREAS, he obtained a degree in criminal justice from Louisiana State University and began his law enforcement career with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office in 1984 as a correctional officer and later served in the patrol division and as a detective; and WHEREAS, in January 1996, Ricky Moses moved to the civil division of the sheriff's office handling the judicial sales and assisting with the ad valorem taxes, and in January 2003, assumed the position of sales tax administrator; and WHEREAS, he was elected sheriff of Beauregard in 2007 and assumed office on July 1, 2008; and WHEREAS, Sheriff Moses is a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association and an executive board member of the Southwest Louisiana Law Enforcement Planning Council, as well as a past president of the DeRidder Kiwanis Club; and WHEREAS, he is married to Shawna Davis Moses, a retired teacher, and they have two daughters, Megan Hinton and Madison Moses, and are expecting their first grandchild on June 30, 2020; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a heartfelt measure of commendation be extended to Sheriff Moses for an outstanding career in law enforcement and for the leadership and talents he provided to Beauregard Parish and the state, whose citizens will long reap the benefits of his knowledge, expertise, compassion, and professionalism. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 41 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Ricky Moses, sheriff of Beauregard Parish, for a distinguished career in law enforcement spanning thirty-six years; express appreciation for the deep sense of pride and honor he brings to Beauregard Parish and the state; and extend to him best wishes for success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
