2020 First Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 53 BY SENATORS CARTER, ABRAHAM, BARROW, BERNARD, BOUDREAUX, BOUIE, CATHEY, CLOUD, CONNICK, CORTEZ, FESI, FIELDS, FOIL, HARRIS, HENSGENS, HEWITT, JACKSON, JOHNS, LAMBERT, LUNEAU, MCMATH, MILLIGAN, FRED MILLS, ROBERT MILLS, MIZELL, PEACOCK, PETERSON, PRICE, REESE, SMITH, TALBOT, WARD, WHITE AND WOMACK A RESOLUTION To commend and recognize Andy Washington upon the celebration of his one hundredth birthday. WHEREAS, Andy Washington is a Coast Guard veteran of World War II who served from 1942 to 1946; and WHEREAS, on June 27, 2020, he was presented with a Coast Guard flag by Captain Michael Paradise, commanding officer of Coast Guard Base New Orleans, at a 100th birthday celebration in New Orleans which included a parade of vehicles organized by friends and family; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana has learned of the joyous occasion of Andy Washington's one hundredth birthday, and it is only appropriate to commend him for his lifetime contributions and accomplishments, particularly his service to our country; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend upon people and veterans like Andy Washington. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and recognize Andy Washington upon the wonderful occasion of his one hundredth birthday, express enduring gratitude for the accomplishments and contributions he has made to his family, friends, community, state, and country, and extend to him every good wish for health and happiness in the years to come.
