ENROLLED 2020 Second Extraordinary Session HOUSE BILL NO. 12 BY REPRESENTATIVE MARINO AND SENATOR BARROW 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:573.2 and 574.4.1(A)(2), relative to hearings of the Board of 3 Pardons and committee on parole; to provide relative to the continuity of government 4 by authorizing certain persons to appear before the Board of Pardons and committee 5 on parole by teleconference; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 15:573.2 and 574.4.1(A)(2) are hereby amended and reenacted to 8 read as follows: 9 §573.2. Telephone Teleconference communications by certain persons 10 Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the crime victim or the victim's 11 family, a victim advocacy group, and the district attorney or his representatives 12 persons providing testimony may appear before the Board of Pardons by means of 13 teleconference or telephone communication from the office of the local district 14 attorney. 15 * * * 16 §574.4.1. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 4 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 5 effective on the day following such approval.
