COMMENDATIONS: Commends Destiny Jamison on being named 2021 Middle School
Counselor of the Year by the Louisiana School Counselor Association
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Destiny Jamison on being named 2021 Middle School Counselor of the Year
3 by the Louisiana School Counselor Association.
4 WHEREAS, Destiny Jamison is a professional school counselor at Walnut Hill
5Elementary and Middle School and a leader in the field of school counseling and is
6committed to enhancing the lives of students and teachers alike; and
7 WHEREAS, Ms. Jamison serves as the vice-president of Caddo School Counselor
8Association and is a longtime member of the Louisiana School Counselor Association
9(LSCA); her work has been recognized by both Caddo Parish superintendent, Dr. Lamar
10Goree, and Governor John Bel Edwards; and
11 WHEREAS, Destiny volunteers as a coach for the Caddo Amazing Shake program
12and serves as Red Apple Educator and Student Award Chair for the Shreveport-Bossier
13African American Chamber of Commerce; she is a genuine advocate for her profession and
14has visited the Louisiana state capitol to testify to legislators on the experiences and needs
15of school counselors in the state; and
16 WHEREAS, LSCA has recognized Mrs. Jamison for her groundbreaking work in the
17implementation of Trauma-Based Relational Intervention strategies and techniques in her
18school, through which she has helped teachers and administrators become more effective at
19connecting, empowering, and correcting students of all ages and risk levels and helped
20students learn how to self-regulate, identify physical and emotional pain, and establish trust-
21based relationships; and

1 WHEREAS, Destiny was named the 2020 Middle School Counselor of the Year by
2the Caddo School Counselor Association; most recently, she has been recognized as the
3Louisiana School Counselor Association 2021 Middle School Counselor of the Year, and
4for this she is most deserving of commendation.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Destiny Jamison on being named 2021
7Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Louisiana School Counselor Association; does
8hereby express deep appreciation for her tireless efforts to provide Louisiana's children with
9a safer, more welcoming school environment; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and
10wishes that she continue to enjoy good health and great success with her students for many
11years to come.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13Destiny Jamison.
