HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 21
BY REPRESENTATIVES JENKINS AND PRESSLY
A RESOLUTION
To commend Destiny Jamison on being named 2021 Middle School Counselor of the Year
by the Louisiana School Counselor Association.
WHEREAS, Destiny Jamison is a professional school counselor at Walnut Hill
Elementary and Middle School and a leader in the field of school counseling and is
committed to enhancing the lives of students and teachers alike; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Jamison serves as the vice-president of Caddo School Counselor
Association and is a longtime member of the Louisiana School Counselor Association
(LSCA); her work has been recognized by both Caddo Parish superintendent, Dr. Lamar
Goree, and Governor John Bel Edwards; and
WHEREAS, Destiny volunteers as a coach for the Caddo Amazing Shake program
and serves as Red Apple Educator and Student Award Chair for the Shreveport-Bossier
African American Chamber of Commerce; she is a genuine advocate for her profession and
has visited the Louisiana state capitol to testify to legislators on the experiences and needs
of school counselors in the state; and
WHEREAS, LSCA has recognized Ms. Jamison for her groundbreaking work in the
implementation of Trauma-Based Relational Intervention strategies and techniques in her
school, through which she has helped teachers and administrators become more effective at
connecting, empowering, and correcting students of all ages and risk levels and helped
students learn how to self-regulate, identify physical and emotional pain, and establish trust-
based relationships; and

WHEREAS, Destiny was named the 2020 Middle School Counselor of the Year by
the Caddo School Counselor Association; most recently, she has been recognized as the
Louisiana School Counselor Association 2021 Middle School Counselor of the Year, and
for this she is most deserving of commendation.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Destiny Jamison on being named 2021
Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Louisiana School Counselor Association; does
hereby express deep appreciation for her tireless efforts to provide Louisiana's children with
a safer, more welcoming school environment; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and
wishes that she continue to enjoy good health and great success with her students for many
years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Destiny Jamison.
