COMMENDATIONS: Commends McManus Timber Co. on being named 2020 Timber
Harvesting Logging Business of the Year by Timber Harvesting Magazine
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend McManus Timber Co. on being named 2020 Timber Harvesting Logging
3 Business of the Year by Timber Harvesting magazine.
4 WHEREAS, McManus Timber Co. of Winnfield, Louisiana, is the twenty-third
5logging operation, and the first from Louisiana, to be named the Timber Harvesting Logging
6Business of the Year; the award honors contractors who operate top-notch logging
7companies and who positively impact their communities and work to build a better forestry
8products industry; and
9 WHEREAS, McManus Timber Co. is owned by Tony and Liz McManus; the couple
10have long been leaders in the Winnfield community, and McManus Timber is one of the
11largest employers in Winn Parish, with thirty employees on the current payroll; and
12 WHEREAS, McManus Timber operates three logging crews and runs eleven log
13hauling trucks; they have many loyal employees, including a saw-man with thirty-seven
14years of experience and a trucking foreman with twenty-five years; and
15 WHEREAS, the McManuses attribute their success to the combined work ethic of
16the four members of their family, Tony and Liz, their daughter Toni, and her husband Josh
17McAllister; and
18 WHEREAS, a big factor determining selection as Timber Harvesting Logging
19Business of the Year is a company's efforts to give back to the logging industry and create
20better relationships; Tony McManus helped start the Louisiana Loggers Self-Insured Fund
21twenty-five years ago and serves as the vice-chair; Toni McManus McAllister is the

1executive director of the Louisiana Loggers Association, and her husband is the president
2of the association's political action committee; and
3 WHEREAS, McManus Timber Co. is a pillar of the Louisiana economy and has
4brought immense honor to the state in winning this award; McManus Timber Co. is most
5deserving of commendation for this achievement and for its work in the logging industry.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
7Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend McManus Timber Co. on being named 2020
8Timber Harvesting Logging Business of the Year by Timber Harvesting magazine and does
9hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes that McManus Timber and the McManus family
10continue to prosper for many years to come.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Tony
12and Liz McManus.
