COMMENDATIONS: Commends Allen Parish district attorney, H. Todd Nesom, on his
retirement
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Allen Parish district attorney, H. Todd Nesom, on his retirement.
3 WHEREAS, H. Todd Nesom has served as district attorney for Allen Parish since
42008; prior to his election, he served as the assistant district attorney for sixteen years; and
5 WHEREAS, Todd is a graduate of Oakdale High School and Texas Christian
6University; he received his juris doctorate from Loyola Law University in 1991; and
7 WHEREAS, Mr. Nesom is a lifelong resident of Allen Parish; in his professional
8career, he served as the city attorney for Elizabeth and Oakdale; throughout his career he has
9worked closely with law enforcement officials and public officials throughout Allen Parish;
10and
11 WHEREAS, Todd Nesom has been a proud member of various groups and civic
12organizations including the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Allen Parish Bar
13Association, the Oakdale Area Chamber of Commerce, the Oakdale Lions Club, the Oakdale
14Rotary Club, and the Louisiana Municipal Attorneys Association; he serves on the board of
15directors of the District Attoneys' Retirement System and is a former board member of the
16Louisiana District Attorneys' Association and the Southwest Louisiana Legal Society; and
17 WHEREAS, Mr. Nesom is the recipient of numerous awards including the Oakdale
18Chamber of Commerce award, the Elizabeth-Oakdale-Oberlin Chamber of Commerce
19Outstanding Individual Chamber Member award, and the Louisiana Highway Safety
20Commission DWI Law Enforcement Award; he was also named the Drug Prosecutor of the
21Year in 2018; and

1 WHEREAS, H. Todd Nesom is a true civil servant, and his career as a practicing
2attorney for the state of Louisiana is most deserving of the highest recognition.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Allen Parish district attorney, H. Todd
5Nesom, on his retirement; does hereby express genuine gratitude for his service to his
6community and to the state of Louisiana; and does hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes
7that he continue to enjoy good health and prosperity as he ventures into retirement.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Allen
9Parish district attorney, H. Todd Nesom.
