HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 45
BY REPRESENTATIVES GARY CARTER, BUTLER, DAVIS, DESHOTEL,
DUPLESSIS, KERNER, AND WILLARD
A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Department of Economic Development to pioneer information
campaigns aimed at small and emerging businesses.
WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development does an excellent job of
training entrepreneurs and fostering small business development, but not all small and
emerging business owners know about the training and development opportunities offered
by the department; and
WHEREAS, there exists a sector of small and emerging businesses that are too small
or too new to have joined a local chamber of commerce or other association that would
typically disseminate information on these opportunities; and
WHEREAS, every small and emerging business owner could benefit from the
department's training, marketing, computer skills, accounting, business planning, and legal
and industry-specific assistance, and enhancing outreach can only improve Louisiana's
economic prospects.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Economic
Development to pioneer information campaigns aimed at small and emerging businesses to
help disseminate information on the department's training and information resources to
businesses that may previously have been unaware of such opportunities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the Secretary of the Department of Economic Development.
