SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21
BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Jerry Romero on the occasion of his retirement from
Acadian Ambulance after 44 years of service.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Jerry Romero on the occasion of his retirement from Acadian Ambulance after
3 forty-four years of service.
4 WHEREAS, Jerry Romero began his career at Acadian Ambulance in 1977 as an
5 EMT and has served as a paramedic, dispatcher, dispatch supervisor, operations manager,
6 vice president of operations, senior vice president, and president; and
7 WHEREAS, he played a key role in the expansion of Acadian Ambulance into Texas
8 in 2006, when the company entered Orange County, and works closely with the Texas team
9 to continue growth through RFPs, contracts, and acquisitions; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Romero's extensive involvement in community organizations
11 includes work with the United Way, the American Heart Association, and the Boy Scouts
12 of America; and
13 WHEREAS, he has served as an executive board member of the Greater Lafayette
14 Chamber of Commerce and past event chairman of the "Be a Heartstarter" mass CPR
15 training event in Lafayette and is an ex-officio board member of the Louisiana Emergency
16 Medical Unit; and
17 WHEREAS, his charitable affiliations include being a member of the Lafayette
18 Parish Career & Technical Education Advisory Council, the Lafayette Workforce

1 Investment Board, and the Lafayette High School Health Academy Advisory Board; and
2 WHEREAS, Mr. Romero is past chairman of the American Heart Association Gala,
3 the American Heart Association Louisiana Advocacy Committee, and past board chair of
4 the Lafayette Chapter of the American Heart Association; and
5 WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Leadership Louisiana and Leadership Southwest in
6 Lake Charles, as well as past board member of Crime Stoppers of Lake Charles, a member
7 of the Allocation Committee of United Way of Acadiana, loan executive for United Way of
8 Acadiana, and past Parish Council Member of St. Edmond Catholic Church; and
9 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
10 and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon the dedication
11 of people like Jerry Romero; and
12 WHEREAS, Jerry Romero merits the highest commendation and most sincere
13 congratulations upon the occasion of his retirement from Acadian Ambulance after
14 forty-four years of dedicated service.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
16 does hereby commend Jerry Romero for his exceptional career and service to Acadian
17 Ambulance, does hereby express to him enduring appreciation for his distinguished service
18 to the citizens of Acadiana, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his vital
19 contributions and tireless dedication to the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend to him
20 best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
22 Jerry Romero.
