RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 164 (HB 12) 2020 Regular Session Carpenter Existing law provides that if a retiree from Firefighters' Retirement System (FRS) returns to work in a full-time position covered by the system, payment of his retirement benefits ceases. Requires the employee and the employer to make contributions toward creditable service during such reemployment. New law limits the applicability of existing law to retirees who return to work for a fire department of an employer covered by the system. New law provides that if a retiree from FRS returns to work in a part-time position for a fire department of an employer covered by the system, employee and employer contributions shall be remitted to the system, but the retiree shall not accrue creditable service. Requires a refund of the employee's contributions. Effective upon signature of governor (June 11, 2020). (Amends R.S. 11:2256(A)(5))
