constable.
Prior law further provided that a justice of the peace or a constable who attained 70 years of
age while serving a term of office was allowed to complete that term of office.
Prior law also provided that the prior law provision did not apply to those justices of the
peace or constables who were serving as a justice of the peace or a constable or who were
elected to the office of justice of the peace or constable on or before Aug. 15, 2006.
New law eliminates the age limit for all justices of the peace and constables.
