HOUSE BILL NO. 169

SCHOOLS:  Provides relative to first aid training for public school employees
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 17:440.1(B), relative to public school employees; to require that
3 training in the use of a tourniquet be a component of first aid training of such
4 employees; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 17:440.1(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง440.1.  School employees; first aid training; policies

9	B.  Each city, parish, and other local public school board shall adopt a policy
10 to require that each school employee who participates in any required in-service
11 training program shall receive first aid orientation and training, which shall include
12 training on the use of tourniquets.

Abstract:  Requires that first aid training for public school employees cover the use of
tourniquets.
Present law requires each local public school board to adopt a policy to require that each
school employee who participates in any required in-service training program receive first
aid orientation and training.  Proposed law requires that first aid orientation and training
pursuant to present law include training on the use of tourniquets.
