Abstract: Provides that nursing education degree programs shall be accredited or have their

the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) from the most recent calendar year.
Present administrative rule provides that a nursing education degree program shall be subject to
probation if 80% of first-time takers, who have recently completed the degree program, do not pass
the NCLEX within one calendar year, January to December.
Proposed law provides that a nursing education degree program shall be subject to probation if 80%
of first-time writers and repeaters, who recently completed the degree program, do not pass the
NCLEX based on the most recent calendar year after graduation.
Proposed law provides that if the most recent graduating class of the nursing education program does
not meet the 80% or greater achieved on the NCLEX, then the La. State Board of Nursing may take
adverse action against the program.
