ACT 257 (HB 335) 2020 Regular Session	Huval
Existing law (R.S. 25:341) provides that the La. State Museum is established as a complex
of facilities in the cities of Baton Rouge, Natchitoches, New Orleans, Patterson, Thibodaux,
and Winnfield under the management and supervision of the office of the state museum of
the Dept. of Culture, Recreation and Tourism (department).  Provides that the museum is
governed by a board of directors, which includes the secretary of the department.
New law provides that the secretary's designee may serve in his stead.  Existing law provides
that the remaining members of the board of directors are appointed by the lieutenant
governor, subject to Senate confirmation.  New law provides that the secretary's designee is
subject to Senate confirmation.
Existing law (R.S. 25:891) provides that the La. State Arts Council is created and established
as a state agency.  Provides that the council consists of 24 members, including the secretary
of the department.  New law authorizes the secretary to designate a person to serve as a
member of the council.  Requires that the secretary's designee be submitted to the Senate for
confirmation.
Existing law (R.S. 40:2501) creates the Interagency Recreation Bd. as a state agency. 
Provides that the board is comprised of seven members, including the secretary of the
department.  Provides that the secretary serves as secretary of the board.
New law authorizes the secretary to designate a person to serve as a member of the board in
his absence.  Provides that the secretary's designee serves as secretary of the board.
Existing law provides for appointment of four members by the governor.  Provides that each
such appointee be submitted to the Senate for confirmation.  New law requires that the
secretary's designee be submitted to the Senate for confirmation.
Existing law (R.S. 49:1112) provides that the Volunteer La. Commission is established as
a state agency.  Provides that the commission shall consist of no fewer than 15 and no more
than 25 voting members.  Provides that the lieutenant governor serves as a nonvoting
member.
New law authorizes the lieutenant governor to designate a person to serve as a member of
the commission.  Requires that the lieutenant governor's designee be submitted to the Senate
for confirmation.
Existing law (Act No. 130 of 1896 R.S., §1, as amended by Act No. 395 of 2006 R.S.)
provides that New Orleans City Park is placed under control and management of the New
Orleans City Park Improvement Assoc. incorporated under the laws of the state, by an act
before Felix J. Dreyfous, Notary Public, on the 13th day of August 1891.  Provides that the
secretary of the department shall be a member of the board of commissioners.
New law authorizes the secretary to designate a person to serve as a member of the board.
Effective Aug. 1, 2020.
