[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 338 Original 2020 Regular Session Duplessis Abstract: Requires the reporting of certain physical and mental health information of an offender appearing before the committee on parole for a parole hearing. Present law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to ensure that every offender is interviewed and explained the rules with respect to release on parole and to secure all relevant data and shall assist the offender in formulating a parole plan. Whenever the committee orders a parole hearing to be held, present law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to secure a report with respect to the personality of the offender, his social history, his adjustment to authority, and his prison record, and may include any recommendation with reference to the release of the offender on parole. Proposed law retains present law and adds information regarding the physical, mental, or psychiatric condition of the offender, when available, to the list of information included in the report secured by the department.
