INSURERS/AGENTS:  Provides relative to the Bail Bond Apprentice Program
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 22:1574(A)(2), relative to the Bail Bond Apprentice Program;
3 to provide for the qualifications of participants; and to provide for related matters.
4Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1.  R.S. 22:1574(A)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
6 ยง1574.  Bail Bond Apprentice Program

9	(2)  The Bail Bond Apprentice Program shall be available only to persons
10 who meet current bail bond producer licensing requirements as provided for in
11 Chapter 5 of this Title and who have not been convicted of a felony and who are not
12 sexual offenders or serial sexual offenders as defined in R.S. 15:536.

Abstract:  Allows an individual that has been convicted of a felony to participate in the Bail
Bond Apprentice Program.
Present law establishes the Bail Bond Apprentice Program and requires participants to have
the following qualifications:

(1)Meet the current bail bond producer licensing requirements.
(2)Not have been convicted of a felony.
Proposed law repeals the requirement that participants not have been convicted of a felony.
Proposed law creates an exception to proposed law where persons convicted of a felony that
classifies them as sexual offenders or serial sexual offenders as defined by present law, R.S.
15:536, are prohibited from participation.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Insurance to the
original bill:
1. Add an exception to proposed law that would prohibit persons who are classified
as sexual offenders or serial sexual offenders as defined by present law from
participating in the Bail Bond Apprentice Program.
