Abstract:  Allows an individual that has been convicted of a felony to participate in the Bail Bond
Apprentice Program.
Present law establishes the Bail Bond Apprentice Program and requires participants to have the
following qualifications:
(1)Meet the current bail bond producer licensing requirements.
(2)Not have been convicted of a felony.
Proposed law repeals the requirement that participants not have been convicted of a felony.
Proposed law creates an exception to proposed law where persons convicted of a felony that
classifies them as sexual offenders or serial sexual offenders as defined by present law, R.S. 15:536,
are prohibited from participation.

The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Insurance to the original bill:
1. Add an exception to proposed law that would prohibit persons who are classified as
sexual offenders or serial sexual offenders as defined by present law from participating
