R.S. 32: 387(C)(3)(d)(ii)(bb) and (cc) are hereby amended and reenacted 8to read as follows: 9 ยง387. Special permits 10 * * * 11 C. 12 * * * 13 (3) 14 * * * 15 (d) 16 * * * 17 (ii) An applicant for a timber harvest season permit shall have the option to 18 pay a one-time fee of one hundred dollars to the secretary for each harvest year for 19 the issuance of such permit. HLS 20RS-842 ORIGINAL HB NO. 442 1 any vehicle or combination of vehicles owned or operated by a timber harvest season 2 permittee who paid one hundred dollars for the permit shall: 3 * * * 4 (bb) Not be assessed a penalty for exceeding its maximum permissible axle 5 weight, as determined by law, provided the total excess gross weight is ten percent 6 or less of the vehicle's maximum permissible gross weight does not exceed ninety- 7 two thousand pounds. 8 (cc) Not exceed the posted maximum speed limit fifty-five miles per hour 9 on the public highways of this state. 10 * * * 11 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 12signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 13by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 14vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 15effective on the day following such approval. Present law provides that any vehicle or combination of vehicles owned or operated by a timber harvest season permittee, who paid $100 for the permit, must not be assessed a penalty for exceeding its maximum permissible axle weight, provided the total excess gross weight is 10% or less of the vehicle's maximum permissible gross weight. Proposed law modifies the total excess gross weight authorized in present law and specifies that it cannot exceed 92,000 lbs. Present law provides that any vehicle or combination of vehicles owned or operated by a timber harvest season permittee, who paid $100 for the permit, must not exceed the posted maximum speed limit on the public highways of this state.
