RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 84 (HB 442) 2020 Regular Session McFarland Existing law provides that any vehicle or combination of vehicles owned or operated by a timber harvest season permittee, who paid $100 for the permit, must not be assessed a penalty for exceeding its maximum permissible axle weight, provided the total excess gross weight is 10% or less of the vehicle's maximum permissible gross weight. New law modifies the total excess gross weight authorized in existing law and specifies that it cannot exceed 92,000 lbs. Existing law provides that any vehicle or combination of vehicles owned or operated by a timber harvest season permittee, who paid $100 for the permit, must not exceed the posted maximum speed limit on the public highways of this state. New law modifies the maximum speed limit authorized in existing law and prohibits any vehicle or combination of vehicles owned or operated by a timber harvest season permittee from exceeding 55 mph on the public highways of this state. Effective June 5, 2020. (Amends R.S. 32:387(C)(3)(d)(ii)(bb) and (cc))
