[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 476 Engrossed 2020 Regular Session Huval Abstract: Provides relative to the membership of the La. Folklife Commission and the La. Tourism Development Commission. Present law provides for the creation of the La. Folklife Commission within the office of cultural development of the Dept. of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. Further provides that the commission shall be composed of 21 voting members, 18 of whom are appointed by the governor and three of whom are ex officio members. Also provides that each appointment by the governor is submitted to the Senate for confirmation. Proposed law provides for technical changes to the titles of certain member organizations. Otherwise retains present law. Present law provides for the creation of the La. Tourism Development Commission as an agency of the state in the Dept. of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. Provides that the commission shall be composed of 21 members, including one member appointed by the La. Business League. Proposed law removes the member from the La. Business League from the commission. Further provides for technical changes to the titles of certain nominating organizations. Present law provides relative to the duties and responsibilities of the commission. Provides that the commission shall submit to the governor a list of nominees to fill a vacancy for the position of assistant secretary of the office of tourism. Proposed law changes the person to whom the commission shall submit a list of qualified nominees from the governor to the lieutenant governor. Otherwise retains present law.
