Abstract: Provides that the governor and lieutenant governor are elected jointly.
Present constitution provides that statewide elected officials, including the governor and lieutenant
governor, are elected for a term of four years at the time and place for voting for members of the
legislature.  Provides that terms begin at noon on the second Mon. in Jan. next following the
election.  Provides that a person who has served as governor for more than one and one-half terms
in two consecutive terms shall not be elected governor for the succeeding term.  Provides for the
powers and duties of the governor and lieutenant governor.
Proposed constitutional amendment retains present constitution.  Additionally provides that at all
regular elections of governor and lieutenant governor, the candidates for both offices shall be elected
jointly in a manner as provided by law so that a voter shall cast a single vote for a candidate for
governor and a candidate for lieutenant governor running together.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
Nov. 3, 2020.
