Abstract: Extends the term of office for district attorneys to 10 years.
Present constitution provides that a district attorney shall have been admitted to the practice of law
in the state for at least five years prior to his election and shall have resided in the district for the two
years preceding election.
Present constitution provides that district attorneys are elected for a term of six years.
Proposed constitutional amendment retains present constitution but changes the term of office for
district attorneys from six years to 10 years.
Provides for submission of the proposed amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held
Nov. 3, 2020.
