HOUSE BILL NO. 658

VOTING/REGISTRATION:  Requires school principals to provide an opportunity on the
first Tuesday in May for high school seniors to register to vote
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 17:2119, relative to voter registration; to require public school principals to
3 provide annually an opportunity for high school seniors to register to vote; to provide
4 relative to methods for such registration; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  This Act shall be known and may be cited as the "High School Seniors'
7Voter Registration Day Act".
8 Section 2.  R.S. 17:2119 is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9 ยง2119. Voter registration; high schools
10	On the second Tuesday in May annually, each public high school principal
11 shall provide an opportunity for each high school senior to register to vote by using
12 a school computer to fill out an electronic voter registration application or by using
13 the state mail voter registration application form.
