DISTRICT ATTORNEYS:  Provides relative to group health insurance for retired district
attorneys
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 16:516(A), relative to district attorneys; to provide for the
3 payment of group health insurance premiums from the district attorney's general fund
4 in the Thirty-First Judicial District; to establish criteria for eligibility; and to provide
5 for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 16:516(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง516.  Health insurance; retired district attorneys; certain judicial districts
9	A.  The premium costs of group health insurance shall be paid in full from
10 the district attorney's general fund, in and for the Fifth, Seventh, Eighteenth, Twenty-
11 First, Twenty-Third, Twenty-Fifth, Twenty-Ninth, Thirtieth, Thirty-First, and
12 Fortieth judicial districts as may be applicable, for any district attorney who retired
13 with at least twenty-five twenty-four years of full-time service regardless of age.

Abstract:  Provides relative to group health insurance for retired district attorneys in the
Thirty-First Judicial District.
Present law provides that the cost of group health insurance premiums shall be paid from the
district attorney's general fund for district attorneys who have retired with 25 years of
creditable service in the District Attorneys' Retirement System, regardless of age, in the 5th,
7th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 29th, 30th, and 40th Judicial Districts. 
Proposed law adds the 31st Judicial District to those for which group health insurance
premiums are to be paid for district attorneys who have retired, and changes the required
years of service from 25 years to 24 years for all district attorneys included in present law
and proposed law.
