Abstract: Extends the insurance fraud investigation unit within the Dept. of Public Safety and
Corrections and the insurance fraud prevention act.
Proposed law changes the termination date of the Sledge Jeansonne Louisiana Insurance Fraud
Prevention Act, authorizing the attorney general to pursue a civil action against anyone who commits
fraud or any other illegal practice to obtain insurance payments, from July 1, 2020, to July 1, 2024.
Proposed law extends the insurance fraud investigation unit in the Dept. of Public Safety and
Corrections, scheduled to terminate on July 1, 2020, until July 1, 2024.
Effective July 1, 2020.
