FUNDS/FUNDING:  Provides for the use of federal funds for workforce training
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 17:1874(B)(5), relative to the use of federal funds for workforce
3 training; to provide for the appropriation, administration, and use of the Workforce
4 Training Rapid Response Fund; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 17:1874(B)(5) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง1874.  Workforce Training Rapid Response Fund

11	(5)  Monies in the fund shall be appropriated, administered, and used solely
12 as provided in Subsection C of this Section, except for federal funds appropriated to
13 the state of Louisiana through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security
14 Act, P.L. 116-136.

Abstract:  Provides for the use of federal funds in the Workforce Training Rapid Response
Fund that are received through the CARES Act.
Present law establishes the Workforce Training Rapid Response Fund as a special treasury
fund administered by the Board of Supervisors of the La. Community and Technical College
System.
Present law requires that monies in the fund shall be appropriated, administered, and used
solely in accordance with a strategic plan approved by the secretary of the La. Workforce
Commission, the secretary of the Dept. of Economic Development, the commissioner of
Higher Education, the chairman of the Workforce Investment Council, and the chief
executive officer of the La. Community and Technical College System.
Proposed law provides an exception for federal funds appropriated to La. through the
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
