R.S. 22:1897 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง1897. Payment of motor vehicle injury claims, notice of intent to pay limits of 9 motor vehicle insurance policy 10 In cases of motor vehicle accidents involving multiple injured parties, any 11 motor vehicle insurer that is paying the claim of an injured party that will result in 12 exhausting or paying out the limits of the motor vehicle insurance policy shall 13 provide notice to all injured parties that the insurer intends to exhaust or pay out the 14 limits of the insurance policy before paying such a claim, provided that any injured 15 party who intends to file a claim has given, and the insurer has received, notice of the 16 injured party's intent to file an injury claim. Proposed law requires a motor vehicle insurer who intends to pay a claim to the limits of a motor vehicle insurance policy to provide notice to other injured parties, if the motor vehicle accident involved multiple injured parties, and provided the injured parties provided notice to the insurer that the injured parties intend to file an injury claim.
