[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 863 Original 2020 Regular Session Hilferty Abstract: Authorizes contract security companies licensed by the La. State Board of Private Security Examiners to adopt a policy relative to the supply and administration of naloxone and other opioid antagonists. Proposed law authorizes contract security company licensed pursuant to present law to adopt a policy to maintain a supply of naloxone and allow contract security officers of the security company to administer naloxone or other opioid antagonist to a person in the event of an actual or perceived opioid emergency. Proposed law further provides that such a policy shall require that a security officer receive at least six hours of general training from a registered nurse or licensed medical physician prior to being authorized to perform such administration. Proposed law also adds that a contract security company that does not adopt a policy shall not be subject to civil liability for not authorizing such supply or administration. (Adds R.S. 37:3284.1)
