RÉSUMÉ DIGEST HCR 31 2020 Regular Session Edmonds Existing law authorizes the Louisiana Tourism Promotion District to levy and collect a sales and use tax at a rate not to exceed .03% for the purpose of assisting the state in promoting tourism. Existing law authorizes the transfer of a portion of the proceeds of the tax to the Dept. of Culture, Recreation and Tourism (Dept.) to promote tourism. Existing law further provides that the amount of funds used by the Dept. for the purpose of in-state media advertisements shall not exceed 10% of all funds used for the purchase of media advertisement. New law suspends provisions of existing law relative to the maximum amount of funds that may be used by the Dept. for the purchase of in-state media advertisement until 60 days after final adjournment of the 2021 R.S.
