SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Commends the state officers of the Louisiana FFA
Association on their 90
th
anniversary
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Louisiana FFA Association and its state officers on 90 years of promoting
3 premier leadership, personal growth, and career success among its members.
4 WHEREAS, the Louisiana FFA Association was chartered in 1930 as part of the
5National Future Farmers of America Organization; and
6 WHEREAS, the organization officially changed its name to FFA in 1988 to reflect
7the growing diversity of the agriculture industry; and
8 WHEREAS, agricultural education and FFA prepare and train students to ensure a
9steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing need in the science, business, and
10technology of agriculture; and
11 WHEREAS, the mission of the FFA organization is to make a positive difference in
12the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth,
13and career success through agricultural education; and
14 WHEREAS, the motto of the FFA organization, "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn,
15Earning to Live, Living to Serve", gives members words to live by as they experience the
16opportunities of the organization; and
17 WHEREAS, the National FFA Organization consists of more than seven hundred
18thousand members in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands; and
19 WHEREAS, the Louisiana FFA Association has over eleven thousand agricultural
20students in two hundred and four chapters throughout the urban, suburban, and rural areas
21of our state; and

1 WHEREAS, the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives recognize the
2importance of agriculture to the economy of this state, as well as the importance of the
3education and training students receive through agricultural education programs that develop
4competent and assertive agricultural leadership and skills.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
6Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana FFA Association on its 90th
7anniversary.
8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
9of Louisiana also recognizes and commends the 2019-2020 state FFA officers as follows:
10Jadyn' Durr, president; Amber Bridges, vice president (Area I); Salem Johnson, vice
11president (Area II); Trevor Touchet, vice president (Area III); Tristan Foret, vice president
12(Area IV); Dekota McGee, secretary; Victoria Higdon, treasurer; Zachary Mayfield,
13reporter; Lindsey Detraz, sentinel; and Matthew Phillips, parliamentarian.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that eleven copies of this Resolution be transmitted
15to the executive secretary of the Louisiana FFA Association.
