ENROLLED 2020 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 28 BY REPRESENTATIVE COX A RESOLUTION To commend Carl Jones on the occasion of his retirement after forty-five years of service in the military and law enforcement. WHEREAS, Carl Jones, son of Wiley and Mary Alice Jones, was raised in Coushatta, Louisiana; he earned his diploma from Coushatta High School and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from California Coast University; and WHEREAS, from April 1975 until July 1995, Jones served in the United States Marine Corps; during his military service he was stationed in camps across the globe, including Okinawa, Japan; the Phillippines; the Persian Gulf; and Hong Kong; his capable leadership earned him the rank of Gunnery Sergeant during his time in the US Marine Corps; and WHEREAS, Gunnery Sergeant Jones's combat experience includes tours during Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, and Operation Southern Watch; he also has been the recipient of many awards, including a combat action ribbon, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and numerous unit commendations and good conduct medals; and WHEREAS, after being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1995, Gunnery Sergeant Jones continued to serve his fellow Americans by becoming a patrol officer with the California State University, Long Beach Police Department; most recently, he served the California State University, Fullerton Police Department where he achieved the rank of Captain; and WHEREAS, it is without question that Carl Jones is a genuine servant of the people, and his commitment to the protection of the United States of America and its people is most deserving of recognition. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 28 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend former United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant and Fullerton Police Department Captain Carl Jones on the occasion of his retirement; does hereby express the most genuine appreciation for Carl Jones's relentless dedication to ensuring the safety of his country and his fellow Americans; and does hereby extend sincere wishes for continued good health and prosperity for Carl Jones as he begins a new journey in retirement.
