COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Booker T. Washington girls' basketball team on
winning the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Booker T. Washington girls' basketball team on winning the 2020
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, just four years after Booker T. Washington High School's reopening,
5the Lady Lions basketball team captured the school's first girl's basketball state title with a
644-36 victory over Mansfield; and
7 WHEREAS, after trailing by as many as nine points in the second quarter, the Lady
8Lions, under the guidance of Head Coach Lakenya Reed, intensified their defense and held
9the Mansfield team to 4-of-28 shooting in the second half and forced twenty turnovers
10throughout the game; and
11 WHEREAS, on the court, the Lady Lions were led by sophomore Imani Rothschild,
12who scored thirteen points and had six steals during the game; she was named the game's
13most outstanding player; in addition to Rothschild's performance, the Lady Lions were aided
14by scoring from Kassie Dolliole, Mikira Kirton, and Ra'nae Tumblin; and
15 WHEREAS, the Booker T. Washington Lady Lions basketball team managed to
16achieve the season's highest honor with only eight players on the entire roster; four of those
17players will be a part of the school's first graduating class since its reopening; and
18 WHEREAS, the Lady Lions and Coach Reed displayed incredible determination
19during their championship season, and for this, they are certainly deserving of recognition.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Booker T. Washington girls' basketball
3team on winning the 2020 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A state
4championship and does hereby extend sincere hopes and wishes that Coach Reed and the
5Lady Lions basketball team are successful in their future endeavors.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
7Booker T. Washington High School.
