SENATE BILL NO. 311

PUBLIC HEALTH.  Requires annual testing of drinking water at certain child care facilities
and schools. (8/1/20)
1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:5.6(C), relative to public drinking water testing at certain child care centers
3 and schools; to provide for annual public water system testing of drinking water at
4 every high risk tier 1 child day care centers and elementary, junior high, middle, and
5 high school; and to provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 40:5.6(C) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
8 §5.6. Safe drinking water; inspections and tests; cost

10	C. Every public water system shall perform an annual test of the
11 following under the Lead and Copper Rule established by the U.S.
12 Environmental Protection Agency's Primary Standards for drinking water (42
13 U.S.C. § 300g-1; 40 C.F.R. Ch. I, Subch. D., pt. 141):
14	(1) Every high risk tier 1 child day care center licensed under the
15 provisions of R.S. 17:407.31 et seq. or R.S. 46:1401 et seq.
16	(2) Every high risk tier 1 elementary school, junior high school, middle
17 school, and high school.
