(8/1/20) 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:827.1(B)(6), relative to photo identification of offenders 3 released from incarceration; to provide relative to the issuance of a photo 4 identification card to offenders prior to release; to require certain information to be 5 included on the identification card; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 15:827.1(B)(6) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8 ยง827.1. Reentry preparation program; establishment 9 * * * 10 B. In compliance with the requirements of R.S. 15:827(A)(5), the department 11 shall identify a transition specialist at each of the state correctional facilities who 12 shall not necessarily be a corrections officer and whose duties shall include but not 13 be limited to: 14 * * * 15 (6) Furnishing a photo identification card to an offender prior to his release. 16 The identification card issued to the offender shall include a list of all licensing 17 and certification programs completed by the offender while incarcerated. DIGEST SB 354 Original 2020 Regular Session McMath Present law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to identify a transition specialist at each of the state correctional facilities who shall perform certain duties which include furnishing a photo identification card to an offender prior to his release. Proposed law retains present law and requires the identification card to include a list of all licensing and certification programs completed by the offender while incarcerated.
