[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] SB 354 Engrossed 2020 Regular Session McMath Present law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to identify a transition specialist at each of the state correctional facilities who shall perform certain duties which include furnishing a photo identification card to an offender prior to his release. Proposed law retains present law and adds that, to the extent funding is available, the offender shall also be issued a card that includes a list of all vocational licensing and certification programs completed by the offender while incarcerated. Effective August 1, 2020. (Adds R.S. 15:827.1(B)(7)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice to the engrossed bill: 1. Remove the proposed law provision which required the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections to issue a photo identification card that includes a list of all licensing and certification programs completed by the offender. 2. Add that, to the extent funding is available, the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections shall issue a card to the offender that includes a list of all vocational licensing and certification programs completed by the offender.
