DIGEST SB 374 Original 2020 Regular Session Cloud Proposed law requires the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to include course materials in its "Commercial Driver License Manual" on the recognition, prevention, and reporting of human trafficking and to include in the written knowledge test administered to an applicant for a Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver license at least two questions relative to the recognition, prevention, and reporting of human trafficking. Proposed law requires any trade school, community college, agency, public or private school, or person offering instruction in the operation of a commercial motor vehicle as part of a commercial motor vehicle driving course curriculum to include industry specific training on the recognition, prevention, and reporting of human trafficking. Proposed law requires the Board of Regents to identify and establish industry specific training materials for use in instruction on the recognition, prevention, and effective reporting of human trafficking by persons as a requirement to obtain a Class "A", "B", or "C" commercial driver license; further, authorizes the board to collaborate with organizations that specialize in and offer training materials on the recognition, prevention, and reporting of human trafficking for commercial truckers; further, requires the board to review and update the training materials to take into account changes and trends in human trafficking. Proposed law requires the board to provide the training materials to the DPSC for inclusion in its "Commercial Driver License Manual". Proposed law provision requires the Board of Regents to identify and establish training materials effective August 1, 2020. The remainder of the Act shall become effective January 1, 2021.
