SB 412 Original 2020 Regular Session Barrow
Present law provides for the regulation and licensure of a cosmetologist and salon owner pursuant
to the La. Cosmetology Act.
Proposed law prohibits a person from doing either of the following:
(1)Working in a salon unless he possesses a certificate of registration to practice cosmetology.
(2)Owning a salon, including a natural hair braiding salon, unless he possesses a certificate of
registration as a beauty salon or salon.
Present law provides for administrative orders and penalties and court proceedings.
Proposed law provides that any person who violates proposed law shall be subject to any
administrative penalty or order issued by the board or any judicial decision as provided in present
law.
Effective August 1, 2020.
